Promostyl is well known for their trend books that were designed to describe different trends for different audiences. Promostyl published a children’s wear trend book in 1970 and ten years later; released Influences Trend Book. In 2012, Promostyl was transitioned from paperback to digital as a blog for trend forecasting. When you visit the site, under the segment of editions; the trend forecast is uploaded. The Doneger Group website starts off with a first impression with the image and visual display that’s bright and bold. The site has a fresh feeling and professionalism with how the company is displayed. The Doneger Group has been a global fashion influence for creativity and business strategies since the company was founded in 1946. This site displays a viewpoint of how this company is described in the public and spotlights quotes from the company itself. The company's main focuses are forecasting, consumer insights, marketing direction, and customized strategies. The Donerger has a blog that is free and available for clients as well. Instead of images and videos of trend forecasting, The Doneger Group describes how they track the forecast with writing segments about their role and what it entails.
The trend forecasters for The Doneger Group travel in teams around the world to map up trends. The role these forecasters have for their company is they identify what the long term trends are for lifestyle, fashion, and color at the time when they would mostly be popular. The trend forecasters are always finding different trends and updating The Doneger Group with what they have found in their trend journeys. I recommend this website and blog for clients that love reading and visualizing about trends more than looking through a lookbook of trends for the season. The Doneger Group creates a different service for trend forecasting but it still is interesting to see what it's newsletter showcases as well as the blog. Plus, it’s free and full of facts on why people call it retailer’s trusted advisor and why it can be trusted.

Trend Book: Forecasting the future of design is not just an online site but also a book that is available for free for consumers and clients. TrendBook was founded by it’s creative director Luísa Rodrigues. TrendBook was created for people that have a profession for creativity but also for people that love reading about trends and designers. It’s a book for anyone in the fashion industry or for anyone interested in fashion. I do not own a copy of this book but I did apply to receive one because I’m interested in seeing what details a Want to add a caption to this image? The one downfall about TrendBook is that the update for trend forecasting is seasonal.
TrendBook has all of its books available up to fall and winter for 2018/19. The next book will be available in the upcoming month for the trend of spring and summer of 2019. Trends could have changed but the book displays what trends were forecasted for the winter back in the summer. These books also don’t just focus on the fashion clothing trends but what designers will become popular and also the color predictions. TrendBook also plays a role with high technology now and even created its own blog that focuses on decor trends, colors, patterns, materials, and fashion. You can also find moodboards on the site too. Now this book is what you call a true trend forecast service for our present day.

99 percent invisible is a podcast that digs into the business world of retail and architecture. I took a different route by finding a service that you can still go back to for reference of trends in 2016. The trend forecasting format was only a discussion for one episode but it still states interesting facts on how to find the right source for trend forecasting and that is reliable. The show takes place in San Francisco and it hosted by Roman Mars, Avery Trufelman, and Katie Singer. One of their episodes that aired in 2016, they analyzed trend forecasting and dives into the color of the season for interior design and fashion. Avery Trufelman describes herself as a millennial and talks about what trends she was starting to see that were top-down fashion and bottom-up fashion in her eyes. The number one source that 99 percent invisible mentions about trend forecasting is WGSN and why it has been a global icon for the fashion industry.
WGSN is the number one source for trend forecasting because of how its strategies impact the fashion industry and reaches out to the right clients and consumers in the retail business. 99 percent invisible breaks down what retail businesses they have seen improve over the years such as H&M and Nike. These companies were defined as the streetwear fashion, even though Nike is known for be for athletic audiences. Branding something so vivid is what's been the call to trend forecasting for fashion apparel. 99 percent invisible, episode 229, is a source that all people researching trend forecasting could use and so is WGSN. Trufelman ends the discussion of fashion by quoting “It would seem that even some industry professionals have difficulty keeping track of who is influencing trends… We’ll only know in two years”.
It's 2019, trends are always changing. You never know what the next trend will be. Trend Forecasting is the business that will provide material for it's clients and consumers and will always be updating to gel along with the technology we use today. These services are all innovative in their own way. Now, what source would you find to spot a forecast of trends? Also, do you think you can become a trend forecaster by just prediction or would you rather see what these these services will showcase for trends in the future? We'll only know in two years. - Amelia
